Almost three months ago, a song playing on the radio caught my interest: Pilla Puli. Music was so different and soothing in its own way.

But I didn’t know which movie this song belong to.
So I did what any curious person would do.
Googled it!
Turns out, the song is from Suriya’s next. After that one time I heard the song, I forgot all about it too. Until last week. The movie world is abuzz with praises for Suriya and his movie. That’s how I ended up watching the film.
Aakaasam nee haddhu ra is a typical entertainer, without the unnecessary glamorous songs that are shot in exotic locations. Also, the makers saved time by using the songs in the background, merging them with the story. And it was a welcome change. That, and showing the de-glam female lead.
The movie is based on a collection of real life stories. Suriya’s portraying the rebellious teenager and his willful behavior continuous as he joins Air Force, quits and tries to start his own business. Try being the key word for this movie. His performance was stellar! And so was the female lead’s. More than anything I liked her role. Because she proved that women back in 1997 were just as fierce as they are now. If people feel that woman being headstrong is a bad thing, then simply put, they don’t deserve that woman.

In career, no matter how many times Suriya faces failure, he never gives up. He had enough support system in terms of family and friends, to give him encouragements every time he was faced with difficult situations. Only proves that, where is a will, there is a way.
The romance angle was beautifully portrayed. And marriage, the makers showed the good, the bad and the ugly of it. By not beautifying the concept of marriage but showing the reality of it went a long way in making the movie believable. The female lead, despite being headstrong, gives her undying love and support to Suriya even when we as audience feel that he does not deserve it. Women, even the stubborn ones know when to push and when not to.

GV Prakash’s music was good. A couple of songs became popular even before the movie.
I just had one thing, not working for me: Rana dubbing for Suriya in Telugu. His voice is too intense for Suriya and did not suit him.
Overall the movie is worth a watch. For people aspiring to do something new, this movie is a good motivation with an inspiring story and emotions that will squeeze your heart in many situations throughout the movie.
My ratings: 4/5

Review is good and the movie was too good as compared to other OTT releases.
And Satyadev dubbed for Surya in this movie
Is it? It sounded a lot like Rana’s. Anyway, thanks for correcting!
Good review. I watched it in Tamil. So no regrets. One of the better biopics in recent times.
